1000 recruits randomised - 25/07/2006

The study achieved its target number of 1000 recruits on 5 April 2005. This is a major achievement that has involved 42 recruiting centres from 19 countries around the world.

Recruiting began in  Newcastle in March 1999, and has expanded now to cover every continent in the world. We now have recruiting centres as far apart as Melbourne, Toronto, Cape Town, Hong Kong and Newcastle. We have had enquiries to join the study from several countries that are not taking part and we hope to change this situation in CAPP3.

Recruiting to the study formally closed on 30th April 2006 with a final recruitment figure of 1072.  

Final data was all received by 30th April 2007. Publication of the CAPP2 results is expected in autumn 2007. At this time all recruits will be contacted by either their local recruiting centre or by the main centre (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK)  to be advised of the overall trial results and to discuss  their personal involvement.
