Taking part in the CAPP study means taking your daily starch and aspirin. Here are some ingenious and delicious ways to include your daily CAPP2 doses in your daily diet! Many thanks to our CAPP2 participants. If you have any recipes or ideas, please e-mail them to the CAPP Office.
To help you to introduce the starch into your daily diet we have included some recipes for you to try. These have been sent to us by CAPP participants and have been a successful part in helping them to "enjoy" their treatments.
Melt 6-8 pieces of chocolate in a bowl. In a separate cup dissolve a powder with one tablespoon of cold milk. Add to the melted chocolate and stir well. Mix in a handful of rice krispies or cornflakes. Divide between two paper cases and leave to set in the fridge. Melt 6-8 pieces of chocolate in a bowl. In an individual serving glass, stir a powder into some jelly, which is nearly but not quite set. Add some chopped pieces of your favourite fruit and leave to set.
Cream the powders with cold milk or water first if you are adding them to hot food.
Cook two leeks and two potatoes in stock until soft. Then liquidize and season to taste. Blend one powder with a little milk and add to a bowl of the soup. Delicious!
I just dilute the sachets in cold water and drink them before or after meals.
Make scrambled eggs as usual. Blend a powder with a little cold milk and stir into the scrambled eggs. Season and serve.
1. At Breakfast time
Mix the CAPP starch in with any breakfast cereal. Add warm or cold milk.
2. At Lunchtime
Mix the starch in with any tinned/canned fruit and the fruit juice.
3. At evening meal
Mix the starch in with grated cheese and sprinkle over the meal just before serving.
4. At anytime
Add the starch to cold milk and mix to a paste. Warm some milk, then add horlicks or cocoa powder to the warm milk. Finally add the starch paste and mix.
